To some people shopping savvy would be going to TJ Max instead of Pier 1, shopping garage sales for great deals, and clipping coupons (so not my thing, trust me I have tried). To me it is getting my bearings and heading off to our local hell aka Wal Mart. I know some of you have wonderful Wal Marts where you can actually walk down the isle with a shopping cart and not run into someone or the isle. Yes our Wal Mart looks like Disneyland in the middle of summer. Filled with Bakersfield’s finest. When I first moved here I thought the reason it took me 15 minutes to walk down one isle was because California people are just really laid back, you know cool. No, just about everyone I talk to hates Wal Mart--- it is truly a nightmare.
As you can imagine I only go there for good deals or if I really need something and I know Target doesn’t have it. On a rare occasion I can convince Jay to go into that store. It is like pulling teeth. He will find every reason not to go. He’ll say “ You can just go there later, do we really need that today.” Including it is too far way we are saving gas ----Yeah those 10 blocks are really going to do us in!!!
Jay was going to get a few things from the store. I suggested Wal Mart because I know it is cheaper. Pulling teeth, took something’s off the list for a later trip to Wally World. Gave in and let him go to Albetson’s. One of my arguments was that he should go to Wal Mart because fruit snacks are $1.50 and the kids love the green box ones. You know the ones with watermelon, sour apple, raspberry and tropical punch. Jay said “weren’t you just at Wal Mart the other day?”
“Yes, they were all out of those ones. They only had the other ones. The ones where the kids will only eat the red and purple ones.” I said
Jay “ I will just get some at Albertson’s”
So Jay comes home with an Albertson’s brand fruit snack the exact same flavors my kids love. Watermelon, raspberry, sour apple and fruit punch. Good job.
Okay since I can’t let things go I asked him how much they cost. He said I don’t know. Uh huh yeah right. $2.36. That’s right $2.36 a box for only 6 pouches. Wal Marts are $1.50 for 10 pouches.
Wal Mart .15 cents a pouch
Albertson’s .40 cents a pouch
You might be think Albertson’s vrs Wal Mart. Albertson’s fruit snacks are better quality----Okay I can see where you are coming from.
Then in one of the Albertson’s pouches there were 2 smiley fruit snacks. That’s right 2 Wal Mart fruit snacks in the Albertson’s pouch. They are made by the same company. Seriously what the heck.
Oh and my kids ate that whole box in 1 day. 2 per kid
I am sure all the things Jay bought would have been a ton cheaper at Wal Mart. But to avoid Wal Mart he will pay more. Which says a lot about Jay. He is a tight wade!!!
So next time I went to Wal Mart I grabbed 3 boxes of green box fruit snacks. Yeah that'll show you!!!!!

I totally agree with you. But is it just our Bakersfield ones? I can't remember how Walmarts in other towns were.
ps. see you at the gym on tuesday
pss. did you get the new weepies yet?
Ah yes. Add me to the "I hate Walmart club". I seriously HATE that place. I'll only go in if I'm desperate. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a snob about it...I just don't like people. And, at walmart, they're crawling with them.
Skip Albertons too! Yesterday Ben needed grapes for class, so I paid $8 for 2 pounds-a small bunch. I almost cried when I walked out and looked at my reciept. They are so high. Avacados are $2 each. I could go on and on. I 'll stick to my cheap places-WinCo, Grocery Outlet. Besides at my house it doesn't matter what I buy, they eat it all. I just buy LOTS and whatever is on sale!
I totally agree! Only go to Walmart if Target doesn't have it. I have heard the best time to go is at 6 in the morning....but who is up that early?
