Man did I have a hard time trying to find something for this project. This is what we were asked to do:
"Help your child select an object and then count out 100. After counting several times have the child attach them in some manner to a display board of some type. We must be able to see and count out your project.
This does not HAVE to be creative and artistic, but it can be if you want."
Then a small list of ideas are given (of course I ignore all these!).
(Cyndi version- This HAS to be creative and if it is not SUPER DUPER creative and loved by all the kindergartens you have failed. )
Crap I hate failing!
No lie just now when I typed this I read the part that said it does not HAVE to be creative.
After reading EVER single post, website and blog on the 100th day of school (and yes they do exist) I seriously could find nothing I liked that was creative.
Except 1 but I knew Brayden wouldn't like it. ( It was display 100 boxtops on a board and then have the school keep it. Thanks to my sis and my mom we almost have 250 box tops!)
I did however get my brain thinking in the right direction. I gave Brayden a couple of different options and this is what he picked to do-- Surprised - Not really, I knew he would pick this one.
What you need
1 wig form-- Sally's Beauty- $2.69
1 pkg of pipe cleaner--- Wal-Mart $1.49
2 cans of green play-doh ---Walmart .70c each
3 bouncy balls--- junk drawer :) you've got one too
I actually pulled out a little more play doh from our stash.
Here's how I made it: I rolled out the green play doh and laid it over the "head" and smoothed it all down. Made a monster nose out of playdoh. Made holes for the bouncy balls. Hot glued them on the monster. Took sharpie to detail the eyeballs. Made a mouth out of blue playdoh. (while I was doing this Brayden was counting out the pipe cleaners in 10, then grouping them together-10, 20, 30....)
Then Cambryn, Brayden and I went to work on the crazy hair! We had fun.
End result a green, 3 eyed, 100 "haired" monster.
He was stoked and couldn't stop holding it.
He proudly announced when he came home that he had the best project-- not that it mattered--right?!
A+ for me
I kept Cambryn's from when she was in K if anyone wants any ideas in the future!
