Puert Rico

Our trip was awesome. We survived another trip with Jay's crazy driving. Christy had no idea what she was getting into with Jay driving us. Chris on the other hand works with Jay---- so he knew. Seriously we had just left Enterprise in Puerto Rico and almost got in an accident. It didn't help that no body there follows any driving laws. Throw Jay into the mix
(amazing we survived).

I could have stayed for another day or two. I didn't even get a day to veg on the beach or by the pool and drink my favorite drink Strawberry daiquiri and Pina Colada (virgin of course ) There was just to much to do. First of all the resort was fabulous. The grounds were beautiful. Let's see we went snorkeling, hand fed iguana's, swimming in the pool almost every night, hiked a waterfall in the rain forest, went to a castle, went shopping :) , and went swimming in a bio luminescent bay (that was seriously the coolest thing I have ever done). Unfortunately my camera wouldn't take pictures of it. We swam at night. Pitch black outside. When you moved in the water the water lit up around you like you had a million blue glow sticks all around you. When you lifted you arm out of the water you could see little blue lights rolling off of your arm. It was awesome until 3 people got stung by jellyfish (luckily not me) and we all had to get out.

Our resort. The Rio Mar

Our first day there Christy and I thought we would relax after 12 hrs of traveling. We took our books out with us and took mini naps. The guys were out boogie boarding and body surfing. They eventually convinced us to come in the water. I was expecting CA fridged water but it was warm instead.
P.S. the super whitey is Jay

That night we went to Richie's. A cool outdoor restaurant and bar with a great view. The food was really good. Okay everyone's was good mine was ghetto. So I decided after that night to be adventurous and eat different things. I am glad I did we ate some great food.

Walking through Old San Juan. Going towards the Castle

There was a wall all along the city with look out points . Jay said he say somewhere on one of the plaques or signs that the castle and wall were built in the 1500's

Christy and I switched socks. Her shoes were giving her blisters. The castle is behind the Camera

Chris and Christy inside the Castle.

This is as far as we got shopping. So sad it was like 2 blocks. What is worse it took us like 3-4 hrs to get that far. What do you expect when there are stores like Polo, Dooney and Bourke, Versace, Harry Winston Diamonds, Coach, Cartier and Louis Vuitton. That isn't including all the little Puerto Rico shops. I was so bummed when they started closing at 6pm. We started to walk to the Hard Rock and kept passing all these amazing stores that I didn't have time to go to. I am sure Jay and Chris were glad we didn't have more time.

The iguana's were so cool. I probably took way to many pictures of them. My kids thought they were awesome. There were a TON of iguanas that hung out in one place on the resort grounds. They knew they got fed there everyday -- so why leave. Be careful though if you have red painted toenails. They might mistake them for a cherry- one of the iguana's favorite treats.

In the rain forest we hiked up this tower to look out over the rain forest.

Us on top of the tower. Jay saw these pictures and said Wow look at my hair why didn't I wear a hat. Okay we were planning on going to a beach with awesome waves. First of all the beach was seriously 100 feet from the projects ---major ghetto. Houses all boarded up. Super scary Not a good place for us Norte Americanos (as they called us). It started poring rain. I suggest hiking in the rain forest. So we weren't totally prepared for the day's events.

I was super unprepared. The day we left I went shopping with Kiki to get all the last minute things including some comfy sandals. I found a pair for going out and decided to wear an old broken in pair that I already had. If I had only known. We are at the air port in New York walking to the terminal and totally biff it right in front of some shops. Apparently worn in shoes (aka 3 yr old) have no tread. So if you walk on something slippery you will fall.
Yes there was water on the floor and I slipped big time. Okay it killed my knee.

So after it stopped hurting I made fun of myself. Like the rest of the time I was making comments about me biffing it in the air port. Well guess what I had those same silly flip flops on when it was raining in the rain forest. So as I was running to the info center in the Rain Forest I slipped again and landed on the same knee. HELLO how embarrassing. By now I have a huge bruise on my right knee the size of my fist and I know it will only get worse.

So I hiked the whole mile up to the water fall on cobblestones and rocks barefoot. That was a pleasant experience.

And no I still haven't bought myself a new pair of black comfy flip flops. I soooo need to.

When we came out of the tower I saw this cool snail. Personally I hate snails. When I was little I thought they were cool pets but now I can't stand them. The snails in Puerto Rico have shells like a turtle. They are flat and get huge. This was a little one.

Hmm someone help me please :)

Where we practiced snorkeling a small reef-- I wish all ocean water was that pretty

We had so much fun! Thanks Chris and Christy for a great vacation. Thank you Mom and Kiki for watching my kids. A big thank you to Sara for taking my kids for an entire day to give my mom and sister a break. They needed it :)

I know I am forgetting someone else. . . Oh yeah A Big Thank You to Ellen. We couldn't have done it without you. No seriously!!!
